Hosting International Exchange Students is a lifetime experience

Our family has been hosting different students from all over the world. We have our foreign teenagers from China, Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway and Taiwan. The experience has been great for our family, specially our children.

We have 2 young children, 10 and 8 years old. We don't have teenager yet, but we are learning so much how to raise teenager in the house. We are learning about communication, trust, honesty, sharing and caring between parents and young children, between parents and teenagers and between our own children and our foreign children.

Our kids love their big sisters and brothers from all over the world. Our children learn so much about people, their culture, how to share the house, food, etc with a big sister or brother that they've never met before. They also learn about " being a volunteer" and work.

We are a busy and a regular family as other families. We both work full time and we volunteer in our community.

Our kids understand that we have to work and volunteer in the same time. One time our son told us that it's good that mom and dad work because "other people need us too".

Over the time, we realize that our kids have become open-minded, accepting other cultures and tolerate with different people. Sometimes we think that our kids are the Ambassador not the exchange student even though they are much younger than the exchange student.

Before, we thought that the best time to host is when our kids are teenagers. But we change our mind. When our kids are young, that is the best time to host an international exchange student. They learn so much in their young age. And we found that there is more sharing, caring and loving between our children and the exchange student.

We gain so much experience in life by hosting International Exchange Students. We have friends and "families" around the world.

Hope you join us too!
